I have found that music can be a male-dominated space to live in and embracing this kind of femininity has been an extremely challenging task for me. The notion that I can be feminine, strong and soft, and still take good care of myself, without reducing myself, was an uphill task for me. It was great fun to wear heels, an outfit, and wear soft curly hair every single day. My experience as an actress is much more recent than everybody else [in Fantastic Beasts] and there was quite a bit of pressure to be a part of it. There was this unsettling feeling during the auditions that there was an immense force behind me; I may either fall under it and crumble because of how much I wished for it and how massive this was, or step on top of it and let it propel my upwards. It is a pleasure to spend time in museums, caf s, parks, or even taking a walk and observing the other people around me is something I enjoy. In LA there is a possibility of being at a distance, while in London you are able to take the Tube and find yourself in the thick of humanity and just about every kind of person who you imagine will be walking on. I love watching the people around me. As a person who is from music, I'm always surrounded by males. It's like being with men is intimate. It's a wild, surreal fantasy. I've read the whole series. It was nice having the opportunity to study the novels while traveling. The cities are constantly shifting and it can be difficult to concentrate. But to retreat into such a tense immersive, vibrant universe from your bedroom is something truly wonderful.
