Her film debut was in Down Twisted. She became famous after playing the lead character in Scream. Film was hugely successful commercially and made over eleven times its budget. Critics also gave praise to the film. The actress reprised her character in the 3 sequels of the film. The popularity of her character grew following her performance in the main character in the sitcom Friends. She received several nominations and awards for her performances. The show, which became a big hit, aired in the tv channel for 10 years. Recent works of hers include her acting part in Mothers and Daughters, a drama film. Some of the awards won by her are she was awarded the TV Guide Award for her character in Friends and the Golden Derby Award for her part in the TV show Cougar Town.
